(WMC) &#8211; Gill Properties and Horn Ventures have announced plans to redevelop the former Houston\u2019s property at 4990 and 5000 Poplar Avenue into a Class A mixed-use destination in East Memphis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The project will involve demolition of existing structures to make way for a two-story, approximately 50,000-square-foot building featuring roughly 25,000 square feet of office space and 25,000 square feet of retail space. The development will also include a 6,300-square-foot, 170-seat restaurant called \u201cThe Tradition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Developers plan $25 million mixed-use project at former Houston\u2019s restaurant site\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/4J6XEV726BE4BESEO7MS4X6W6U.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"518\" \/>Developers plan $25 million mixed-use project at former Houston\u2019s restaurant site(Gill Properties and Horn Ventures)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Brown Gill of Gill Properties and Darrell Horn of Horn Ventures are leading the development. Demolition is already underway on the Houston\u2019s restaurant, with the project estimated to open in late 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis is not a short-term project for us,\u201d said Brown Gill, VP of Development at Gill Properties. \u201cWe are building this as a legacy investment \u2014 a true Class A development from start to finish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The project will include approximately 60 underground parking spaces and more than 130 surface spaces.
