It\u2019s gonna be hard to miss. <\/p>\n

A 15-foot-tall red ball is headed to Dallas this year for the FIFA World Cup<\/a>. <\/p>\n

But this is no ordinary ball: It\u2019s actually an inflatable public artwork from Chicago native Kurt Perschke. Aptly called RedBall Dallas, it\u2019ll pop up in the Arts District and other downtown spots from June 19-28. <\/p>\n

Perschke debuted his RedBall project in St. Louis in 2001 and it has since traveled to some 50 cities around the world, drawing crowds and intrigued spectators along the way. Based on photos online, it\u2019s appeared wedged between buildings, under a pier in Santa Cruz and on a boat gliding past the Eiffel Tower. Once, on a windy day in 2015, it got free from its handlers and rolled down the streets of Toledo, Ohio, a moment that went viral in an online video<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In Dallas, it\u2019ll be part of the Arts District\u2019s offerings<\/a> during the World Cup. It\u2019ll also come to Deep Ellum and the Bishop Arts District. Daily locations will be announced on June 1 on the project\u2019s Instagram page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The World Cup is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the D-FW area in June and July. Games will be held at Arlington\u2019s AT&T Stadium. <\/p>\n

Perschke said in a news release that bringing RedBall to Dallas during this time \u201cfeels especially meaningful.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cRedBall is an invitation into the everyday, a catalyst for new encounters and shared experience in public spaces. Each day we will see what Dallas imagines, and how the city responds to that invitation.\u201d <\/p>\n
