A Collin County man was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to abusing and starving his six young children, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Kevin Dixon, 28, received life sentences on five counts of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury and 25 years on two additional counts involving malnourishment, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said in a statement. The sentences stem from the abuse of six children, some as young as 2.<\/p>\n
According to officials, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services first determined in 2021 that Dixon was not providing a safe environment and warned him against using excessive discipline.<\/p>\n
In February 2025, the agency again contacted the family and found five of the children, all under age 10, had visible marks and scars and appeared severely malnourished. Authorities said the children weighed far less than is typical for their ages.<\/p>\n
The Princeton Police Department launched an investigation and interviewed the children, who described repeated physical abuse and neglect. Investigators said the children reported being deprived of food and struck with belts and cords. One child was beaten for taking a candy bar, according to the statement.<\/p>\n
Dixon, who was previously convicted of robbery in 2015, pleaded guilty to five counts involving physical abuse and two counts involving malnourishment. Because of his prior felony conviction, he faced a punishment range of 15 to 99 years or life in prison on each abuse count.<\/p>\n
