{"id":173532,"date":"2026-02-20T23:18:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T23:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/173532\/"},"modified":"2026-02-20T23:18:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T23:18:12","slug":"fifth-annual-buffalo-grass-fest-celebrates-west-texas-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/173532\/","title":{"rendered":"Fifth annual Buffalo Grass Fest celebrates West Texas music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; The <a href=\"https:\/\/lubbockculturalarts.org\/buffalo-grass-fest\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/lubbockculturalarts.org\/buffalo-grass-fest\/\">fifth annual Buffalo Grass Fest <\/a>is bringing together musicians from across the South Plains to share their love of music.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Stacey Keith is the director of the Lubbock Cultural Arts Foundation. She says the annual event, which was created in 2020, is designed to connect local musicians through networking, professional development and live performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cProfessional development for musicians, networking events for musicians, promoting great music, and really making the road easier for that up-and-coming generation,\u201d Keith said. \u201cEven making the doors open and the roads a little easier for established musicians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Student access to industry professionals<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Brent Wheeler, a member of the Creative Arts department at South Plains College, said the fest gives aspiring artists the opportunity to work alongside established industry professionals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThey get to meet somebody who\u2019s doing it, like Shelly King or her band or the guest artist she\u2019s bringing in and John Sprott who they get to see but have more access to in this type of situation,\u201d Wheeler said. \u201cSo, it really helps, it gives them the idea that oh this is obtainable for me too and the things I am doing here as a student will give me the pathway to a great successful career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Open jam and concert scheduled<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Keith said the fest offers something for attendees beyond musicians, including an open jam session where anyone can participate.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Fifth annual Buffalo Grass Fest celebrates West Texas music\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/5KFCBJICPZHBXBJRM5F5N3SZXU.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"790\" \/>Fifth annual Buffalo Grass Fest celebrates West Texas music(KCBD)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cSo, there\u2019s something kind of for everybody, you don\u2019t have to be a musician. We always do an open jam, that\u2019s one of the most fun pieces of this, letting everybody if they want to bring their instrument and jump up,\u201d she said. \u201cWe have professional backline and so they got that rhythm section and they can either sing, they can play their guitar they can play any instrument they want to and that\u2019s always a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Daytime events will be held at LHUCHA from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. February 21st.
