Hawkes Downtown Library. The Council will also hold its afternoon work session, which is set to start at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Briefing Room.<\/p>\n<p>About the Budget<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arlingtontx.gov\/News-Articles\/2025\/August\/Arlington-Council-Reviews-Proposed-750.7-Million-Budget-for-FY-2026\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Opens in New Window\" aria-describedby=\"new-window-0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">proposed budget for the next fiscal year,<\/a>\u00a0which begins Oct. 1, includes spending cuts, new fees and fee adjustments, and a three-cent property tax rate increase to close a $20 million budget shortfall in what is needed for Arlington to provide the current level of city services.\u00a0 The budget also includes proposed increases in residents\u2019 water and sanitary sewer rates, the garbage collection rate and the stormwater fee.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed budget, presented to Council on Aug. 5, includes a property tax rate of $0.6388 per $100 of assessed value.
