Q. When the trade happened, did you\u00a0see it coming or did you expect it?\u00a0F*ck no. No, I was in Dallas getting\u00a0ready to play. I had like a suite.\u00a0I had all my family, friends coming to\u00a0the game. So I’m in there getting taped in the\u00a0in the training room in the hotel in\u00a0Dallas and TV’s right here. I’m\u00a0getting taped\u00a0and it pops up. \u2018Breaking news: Deron Williams traded to the Nets\u2019, as I’m\u00a0getting taped.<\/a> Somebody was like,\u00a0\u2018D-Will, is that true?’\u00a0And I looked and I was like, \u2018Sh*t, I\u00a0don’t know.\u2019 Called my agent and he’s like,\u00a0\u2018I ain’t\u00a0heard\u00a0that. Let me let me call\u00a0Kevin O’Connor.\u2019 He was our GM. So he\u00a0called Kevin O’Connor, called me back\u00a0like five minutes later and he’s like,\u00a0\u2018Yeah, they traded you.\u2019\u00a0So I guess what\u00a0happened was\u00a0that was the year Melo was trying to\u00a0get out of Denver.\u00a0He had been talking to\u00a0the Knicks. No, he’d been trying to get to\u00a0the Nets<\/a>. It was the\u00a0Nets or the Knicks. I think they were all\u00a0doing like trying to make a deal for\u00a0Melo. And basically when the deal\u00a0happened with Melo to New York, cuz it was right\u00a0before the trade deadline,\u00a0Kevin O’ Conor literally just\u00a0told\u00a0the Nets,\u00a0\u2018Whatever y’all offered for Melo, and they did the swap.\u2019 So it\u00a0was that same package they had for Melo, they did for me and just made the swap.\u00a0And so I found out that day. Didn’t play\u00a0in the game in Dallas, obviously.\u00a0My teammates were on the\u00a0bus, went out and\u00a0told\u00a0everybody bye and\u00a0then packed up and headed to Brooklyn.<\/p>\n
