Toronto FC (0W-1L-0T, 0 points) kicked off their 20th Major League Soccer season with a narrow 3-2 road loss against FC Dallas (1W-0L-0T, 3 points) on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.<\/p>\n
TFC Head Coach Robin Fraser\u2019s season-opening XI featured six Canadians, five Toronto FC II products and a club debut for new signing and two-time MLS Defender of the Year Walker Zimmerman. Three additional off-season acquisitions, Raheem Edwards, Emilio Aristiz\u00e1bal and D\u00e1niel Sall\u00f3i, began the match on the bench after completing their moves earlier in the week.<\/p>\n
FC Dallas struck first in the ninth minute, as Petar Musa\u2019s powerful strike from Osaze Urhoghide\u2019s setup gave Los Toros an early lead.<\/p>\n
The Reds responded swiftly, drawing level six minutes later when Djordje Mihailovic latched onto a precise through ball from Jonathan Osorio and guided his finish over goalkeeper Michael Collodi.<\/p>\n
The 15th minute equalizer marked the Designated Player\u2019s fifth goal for the Reds since arriving last August and the captain\u2019s club-leading 58th assist for TFC.<\/p>\n
Logan Farrington restored the hosts\u2019 lead in the 37th minute with a clever left-footed finish, giving Dallas a 2-1 advantage heading into the interval.<\/p>\n
Nine minutes into the restart, new signings Raheem Edwards and D\u00e1niel Sall\u00f3i were introduced in place of Alonso Coello and Malik Henry as the Reds pushed for their second equalizer.<\/p>\n
The changes sparked Toronto\u2019s attack and made an immediate impact, as Derrick Etienne Jr. drew the visitors level with a deft, dinked finish after goalkeeper Michael Collodi parried Sall\u00f3i\u2019s powerful strike into his path.<\/p>\n
The 67th minute strike marked the Haitian international\u2019s first of the 2026 campaign and his second goal contribution of the evening, after adding the secondary assist on Mihailovic\u2019s first-half strike.<\/p>\n
FC Dallas made it 3-2 to restore the lead, when Logan Farrington\u2019s cross was headed home by Petar Musa, as the Croatian forward scored his second goal in the 74th minute.<\/p>\n
Henry Wingo and debutant Emilio Aristiz\u00e1bal replaced Derrick Etienne Jr. and Kobe Franklin three minutes later as the Reds pushed for a third equalizer of the contest.<\/p>\n
Toronto carved out a number of opportunities late in the match, including efforts from Jos\u00e9 Cifuentes, Djordje Mihailovic and Raheem Edwards, but were unable to restore parity and ultimately fell 3-2 to FC Dallas.<\/p>\n
Next up, Toronto FC return to action on the road against Canadian rivals Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, February 28. Kick-off from BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. PST) and will be broadcast globally on Apple TV.<\/p>\n
