LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – U.S. Senate candidate Jasmine Crockett visited Lubbock Monday morning, hosting a \u201cCommunity Conversation\u201d. Crockett said the stop was prompted by a letter written by a 15-year-old volunteer.<\/p>\n
Brooklyn Duvall said she is honored that Crockett not only shared her letter on social media but worked to add Lubbock to her campaign schedule.<\/p>\n
\u201cI watch the news every night. I wake up in the morning and check the news because I want to stay informed on the important topics in our world. I wish more people would be involved like me. Eventually we\u2019re going to be the leaders, we\u2019re going to lead one day, and I think it\u2019s important for us to know things,\u201d Duvall said.<\/p>\n
Crockett currently represents part of Dallas in Congress and has a background in criminal defense and civil rights law. She is seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate against Texas State Representative James Talarico.<\/p>\n
Crockett said she wants to inspire young women through her campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor them to see me, it matters, and I think I want them to know they not only can see me in this moment, but they can aspire to do anything that comes to their mind because of this moment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The winner of the Democratic primary will face the Republican nominee in November. The Republican field includes Sen. John Cornyn, Attorney General Ken Paxton, and Congressman Wesley Hunt.<\/p>\n
