PFLUGERVILLE, Texas \u2014 The Travis County Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating a fatal shooting involving an off-duty Austin Police Department officer that took place Friday evening.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred at a barbershop on the 1700 block of Crystal Bend Drive, where multiple 911 calls were received just after 6 p.m. reporting gunfire and a shooting victim, according to a press release from the Travis County Sheriff\u2019s Office. Deputies found an adult male deceased with gunshot wounds at the scene. Another individual, who also sustained a gunshot wound, was found at a nearby residence and transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.<\/p>\n
Preliminary investigations by the Travis County Sheriff\u2019s Office revealed that a man entered the barbershop and began shooting at patrons and employees. An employee was shot and fled to a nearby residence for help. An off-duty Austin Police Department officer present at the barbershop returned fire, fatally striking the suspect.<\/p>\n
The suspect has been identified as Jefferson Josue Rodas, of Pflugerville, Texas. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, stated the Travis County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
