AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 Aiden Robbins<\/a> delivered the first Longhorn cycle in 11 years to propel No. 3 Texas to a 3-1 win over Michigan State at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Robbins opened his historic performance with an RBI single in the first, tripled in the third and recorded a one-out double in the sixth, before drilling a homer off the right-field foul pole in the eighth to complete the cycle.<\/p>\n

The center fielder became the first Longhorn player to hit for the cycle since C.J Hinojosa on April 19, 2015.<\/p>\n

Robbins tallied four of Texas’ eight hits in a wind-aided pitchers’ duel between the Longhorns (6-0) and Spartans (2-3).<\/p>\n

Max Grubbs<\/a> (1-0) earned his first win of the season, tossing three hitless innings out of the bullpen. The senior registered nine outs despite only facing eight batters.<\/p>\n

Righty Thomas Burns<\/a> (1) struck out the side in the ninth to clinch the series.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, left-handed hurler Luke Harrison<\/a> set the tone early, holding the visitors to one unearned run across the first 4 1\/3 innings.<\/p>\n

Michigan State starter Carter Monke (0-1) matched the Longhorns’ staff through the first six frames, but Texas pushed across tallies in both the seventh and eighth innings. Monke allowed two runs, one earned, over 6 1\/3 frames.<\/p>\n

With the victory, Jim Schlossnagle<\/a> became the second-fastest Longhorn coach to win 50 collegiate games in program history. Schlossnagle’s 50-14 start trails only two-time national champion Bibb Falk, who began his Texas tenure with a 50-13 mark.<\/p>\n

The Longhorns will look secure their second straight sweep in the series finale on Sunday.
