The Dallas Cowboys<\/a> are not yet putting a timetable on negotiations with wide receiver George Pickens, Stephen Jones said Monday<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In the meantime, however, Jones did confirm in Indianapolis the Cowboys are planning to place a franchise tag on George Pickens, which would lock him up for the 2026 season. <\/p>\n

A person with knowledge of the club\u2019s thinking told The Dallas Morning News over the weekend<\/a> the Cowboys were expected to place the tag on Pickens as the sides try to work out a long-term deal<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll take time. We want Pickens here. I think the world of him,\u201d Jones said. <\/p>\n

Pickens, in the words of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, was everything the Cowboys could\u2019ve hoped for and more<\/a> during the 2025 season after they acquired him from Pittsburgh. He had a career year, catching 93 passes for 1,429 yards \u2014 third in the NFL \u2014 and nine touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Dallas would like to retain Pickens, but it will cost them. Pickens has a market value for an annual contract that exceeds $30 million per year, according to Spotrac.<\/p>\n

The projected franchise tag number for wide receivers is a one-year deal valued at over $28 million, according to Over The Cap.<\/p>\n
