CLARKSVILLE, TN \u2013 Nationally acclaimed Invoke string quartet will perform 3 p.m. March 1 at Austin Peay State University\u2019s Mabry Concert Hall, 801 Marion St.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re excited to be coming to you, March 1, with a concert of musical storytelling through our original songs as well as music by some of our greatest influences like Duke Ellington, Florence Price, Joseph Haydn,\u201d Invoke violinist Zach Matteson said.<\/p>\n
The multi-instrumental quartet, based in Austin, Texas, encompasses traditions from across America, including classical, bluegrass, Appalachian fiddle tunes, jazz and minimalism. The ensemble weaves together violin, banjo, cello, viola, mandolin and voice to form a unique contemporary repertoire, featuring original works composed by and for the group.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope you walk away with a new perspective on what a string quartet can be,\u201d Matteson said.<\/p>\n
Invoke\u2019s performance is the fourth in a five-concert series hosted by the Clarksville Community Concert Association whose mission is to enrich the Clarksville and regional community through world-class live concerts. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at 2 p.m. for the pre-concert talk presented by Dr. Jacob Aaron Schnitzer, Austin Peay State University Orchestra conductor.<\/p>\n
Regular admission is $25, with 10% discounts for seniors (65+), military personnel, and educators. Austin Peay students receive free admission, while non-APSU students with ID can attend for $5. Individual livestream tickets are available for $20. Parking is free.<\/p>\n
