FRISCO, Texas \u2013 In less than two weeks, Javonte Williams could’ve had the chance to negotiate with any other team in the NFL as a free-agent running back.<\/p>\n
Turns out, he was already where he wanted to be.<\/p>\n
“Yeah I could’ve,” Williams said of negotiating and listened to other offers. “But it’s about just being here and being around everybody. I feel the love here. This where I wanted to be.”<\/p>\n
Williams officially signed his three-year, $24 million extension on Tuesday at The Star in Frisco. Like always, he didn’t have much to say, only that it was excited to be in this position. Let’s not forget just a year ago he was an unrestricted free agent and signed a one-year deal in Dallas.<\/p>\n
“At the beginning of the season, I didn’t even know how it was going to go,” said Williams, who was splitting time with Miles Sanders and rookie Jaydon Blue was also in the mix. “But I feel like it worked out for both sides. Everything was good. I’m just blessed.”<\/p>\n
Williams finished the 2025 season with a career-high in both rushing yards (1,201) and touchdowns (13).<\/p>\n
When asked if he’s ready to take the offense to the next level, Williams grinned and said “you know it.” But he definitely wants to keep the same group intact.<\/p>\n
When Cowboys owner\/GM Jerry Jones called Williams over the weekend to congratulate him after the deal had been agreed to, the running back had a subtle request for the boss.<\/p>\n
“Yeah when Mr. Jones called me, I was like \u2026 Keep GP, too.”<\/p>\n
