Construction includes replacing the double white stripes/pylons with broken white striping so drivers can move between the technology lane and general-purpose lanes more continuously, depending on when the lane is restricted or open. All road work is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

What drivers should expect overnight:

With three left lanes closed, traffic will be pushed into fewer lanes, and that typically creates:

Slower speeds and stop-and-go flow approaching the work zone

Last-minute merging near the closure points

More crashes from lane changes (especially on Central at night)

Also keep in mind: overnight work is always subject to change based on weather or field conditions, so the setup may look different night to night.

Ways to avoid delays:

If northbound U.S. 75 is usually your route during those overnight hours, a few practical options can help:

Use the Dallas North Tollway for longer northbound trips (especially if you’re going toward Plano/Allen/McKinney).

Stay on surface streets parallel to 75, like Greenville Avenue, if you’re moving within central/northeast Dallas and can avoid the freeway merge points.

If you must take 75, build in extra time and merge early, don’t wait until the cones force the merge.

North Texas drivers who use northbound U.S. Highway 75 (Central Expressway) between Northwest Highway (Loop 12) and Interstate…

[9
71900,102,581,104,103,13124,71901,71902,65468
post-179000","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-central-expressway","tag-dallas","tag-dallas-county","tag-dallas-headlines","tag-dallas-news","tag-dallas-north-tollway","tag-hov-lanes","tag-managed-lanes","tag-overnight-hours
["GET
