href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/sports\/high-school\/basketball\/2023\/07\/06\/travis-levie-no-stranger-to-round-rock-basketball-program\/70388588007\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Round Rock coach Travis Levie<\/a> knew his team could handle the pressure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" Gutierrez\/John Gutierrez\/Special to Americ<\/p>\n<p>In the fifth straight meeting between the schools in the playoffs, Round Rock outscored Lake Travis 10-5 in overtime for a 67-62 win at Eastside High School.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just sat there on the bench before the overtime and talked about that, \u2018Hey, all those other overtime games we\u2019ve been in this season were for this situation,\u2019\u201d Levie said. \u201cAnd our guys stepped up and made plays they needed to against an absolute great program and great coach.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Dragons forced the extra session\u00a0thanks to forward\u00a0Teyo Barnett.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Grabbing a missed Lake Travis free throw with 9 seconds left and Round Rock trailing 57-55, Barnett sprinted down the court for a coast-to-coast\u00a0layup after weaving through a couple of defenders in the air in for the game&#8217;s most important play.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs soon as the ball was (missed), I was like, \u2018I have to go get that,\u2019\u201d Barnett said. \u201cI was looking for (Max Lipnisky) or to see if anyone was down court to try and get an easy (basket). No one was there, so I figured I would just take it all the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barnett was fouled on the play but didn\u2019t get to shoot the free throw after suffering \u201cthe worst cramps I\u2019ve ever had\u201d in both his legs. His substitute missed, and after a desperation shot at the buzzer by the Cavs, both Matthew Holland and Javeon Taylor had three points to spur Round Rock in overtime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just happy we won,\u201d Barnett said. \u201cWe\u2019ve got a lot of seniors, so being able to get them another game made my week. &#8230; After the game was the loudest and happiest I\u2019ve ever seen this team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neither team led by more than six in a back-and-forth contest where there were 19 lead changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lipnisky dominated the second half for Round Rock and kept Lake Travis from pulling away when it seemed the Cavs had momentum. He scored 20 of his game-high 25 points after the break, including hitting four 3-pointers in a 5-minute stretch late in the third quarter and early in the fourth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was feeling it even after missing my first three 3-pointers,\u201d said Lipnisky, a sophomore who could be one of the area\u2019s better players the next two years. \u201cThat was the kind of night it was for me mentally. I was going out and attacking my shot, and that was the mindset coming in.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>After Lake Travis (25-9) won three of the previous four playoff meetings, Lipnisky noted this result means a little extra for the Dragons. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was more than just the first round; this was a revenge game for us, especially the seniors,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The teams will have to make runs to the regional final to meet next year in the postseason. They were placed in the same district in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/high-school\/football\/article\/uil-realignment-benefited-central-texas-2026-28-21329560.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">UIL realignment<\/a> and will play twice in the regular season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Round Rock (24-8) holds bragging rights for now, thanks to its overtime excellence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoach just told us he trusts us (before the overtime),\u201d Lipnisky said. \u201cHe said to keep it rolling and give whatever gas we had left.
