{"id":179571,"date":"2026-02-25T12:09:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T12:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/179571\/"},"modified":"2026-02-25T12:09:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T12:09:07","slug":"popular-california-born-birria-taco-joint-expanding-to-austin-dallas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/179571\/","title":{"rendered":"Popular California-born birria taco joint expanding to Austin, Dallas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most Texans are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/entertainment\/dining\/2025\/03\/11\/best-tacos-near-me-austin-tx-mexican-restaurants-food-trucks-breakfast-birria-fish\/78910508007\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">no stranger to quesabirria tacos<\/a>, but a California-owned birria giant is looking to make its own foothold in the Lone Star State as part of a nationwide expansion project.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/mikes-red-tacos-launches-national-franchising-initiative-with-200-locations-under-development-302688723.html\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mike\u2019s Red Tacos<\/a>, which first hit the scene as a San Diego food\u00a0truck in 2021, announced last week it would be franchising more than 200 new locations across 10 states, including Texas. Multi-unit franchise deals have also\u00a0been reached in California, Michigan, Minnesota, New England, Nevada, Virginia, Arizona, Indiana and Illinois.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant was named to Yelp\u2019s Top 100 U.S. Restaurants list in 2023 and its menu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mikesredtacos.com\/menu\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">offers birria tacos<\/a>, quesadillas, burritos, ramen, nachos and more.<\/p>\n<p>Construction on the new locations is expected to start in the coming months, with the first restaurant expected to open by the end of 2026, the company said in a news release.
