{"id":179892,"date":"2026-02-25T17:07:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T17:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/179892\/"},"modified":"2026-02-25T17:07:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T17:07:09","slug":"nebo-mountain-fire-in-gillespie-co-now-40-contained-at-1160-acres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/179892\/","title":{"rendered":"Nebo Mountain Fire in Gillespie Co. now 40% contained at 1,160 acres"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GILLESPIE COUNTY, Texas \u2014 The Nebo Mountain Fire in Gillespie County is now 40% contained at an estimated 1,160 acres, according to the Texas A&amp;M Forest Service.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/texas-crews-battle-15-acre-brush-fire-near-fredericksburg-20-contained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The fire was 25% contained as of Tuesday, the Forest Service estimating the fire&#8217;s size at 250 acres.<\/a> Officials say the increase in acreage on Wednesday was due to more accurate mapping.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe terrain out here is steep and difficult to access,\u201d Fredericksburg Fire\/EMS Chief Lynn Bizzell said. \u201cBecause of that, we relied on Texas A&amp;M Forest Service aircraft earlier today to slow the fire\u2019s spread, and our ground crews will continue to work through the night to increase containment and stop the forward progression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Gillespie County Emergency Operations Center has been activated in support of fighting the fire.
