\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA number of transportation projects are underway and scheduled to begin soon in the Cypress-Fairbanks region. Here are some of the projects set to impact the area.<\/p>\n

Upcoming projects<\/p>\n

1. Grant Road widening Segment 4<\/p>\n

Project: This project will widen two-lane road to four-lane boulevard from Cypress Rosehill Road to Telge Road.<\/p>\n

Update: The project is in the design phase.<\/p>\n

2. Greenhouse Road<\/p>\n

Project: According to project details shared by Harris County MUD 500 and Caldwell Companies, the new Greenhouse Road underpass will include an expanded overpass on Hwy. 290, a tunnel structure underneath the Union Pacific railroad and additional sidewalks and pedestrian crossings.<\/p>\n

Update: Officials will go out to bid on the project in February, according to Precinct 3 officials.<\/p>\n

3. Hwy. 290 resurfacing<\/p>\n

Project: TxDOT plans to resurface and rehabilitate Hwy. 290 from Badtke Road to Telge Road.<\/p>\n

Update: According to officials with TxDOT, the project will be let by September, with construction starting soon after.<\/p>\n

Timeline: estimated construction start in fourth quarter 2026Cost: $2.7 millionFunding sources: TxDOT,<\/a> H-GAC4. Grand Parkway widening<\/p>\n

Project: The Grand Parkway is set to be widened from four to six lanes according to TxDOT officials. The project will span from West Road to south of Hwy. 290.<\/p>\n

Update: The widening is on the TxDOT letting schedule for April 6, with construction expected to begin over the summer.<\/p>\n

5. Cypress Creek Estates Subdivision improvements<\/p>\n

Project: This project will provide subdivision drainage improvements and pavement reconstruction for increased drainage capacity, reduced flood risk, and reduced long-term maintenance costs in the Cypress Creek Estates subdivision.<\/p>\n

Update: Funding for this project is approved and will focus on addressing drainage issues throughout the subdivision.<\/p>\n

Timeline: Estimated completion in fourth quarter 2026Cost: $10.1 millionFunding source: federal grant managed by Harris County Engineering Department6. Barwood subdivision improvements<\/p>\n

Project: This project will provide the Barwood subdivision with drainage improvements and pavement reconstruction throughout the subdivision to increase drainage capacity, reduce flood risk and reduce long-term maintenance costs.<\/p>\n

Update: This project has entered the construction phase, according to Harris County Precinct 3<\/a> officials.<\/p>\n

Timeline: estimated completion in second quarter 2026Cost: $1.1 millionFunding sources: Community Development Block Grant, Harris County7. Cypress North Houston Road<\/p>\n

Project: This project will widen Cypress North Houston Road from a two- to four-lane concrete boulevard with raised medians and underground storm sewer system. The project also includes new or upgraded traffic signals at Autumn Mills Road, Misty Moss Lane and Perry Road.<\/p>\n

Update: This project is in the design phase.<\/p>\n

Timeline: design finalized by early 2026Cost: $16 millionFunding source: Harris County<\/p>\n
