Steve Sarkisian and the rest of Texas<\/a>‘ coaching staff did an excellent job this offseason with transfer portal recruiting<\/a>, and one of their most promising acquisitions has been killing it in offseason workouts for the Longhorns.<\/p>\n

Former All-ACC OT Melvin Siani comes to Texas after being one of the best players in the league in 2025 when it comes to pass blocking. The way he moves is just different, and it shows on tape. His lateral movement skills and mirroring ability at the snap are incredible to watch, and seeing him move around without pads on is even more impressive.<\/p>\n

He glides around bags and obstacles on the ground with ease, and he moves faster in short areas than some tight ends do. Siani doesn’t carry a ton of “bad weight” either, and carries his weight very well at 305 lbs.<\/p>\n

Multiple new Longhorns have been impressing the coaching staff over the past month, notably incoming freshmen John Turntine III <\/a>and Jamarion Carlton.<\/p>\n

Turntine has only been on campus for five weeks, and he’s already gained around 15 pounds, which was a huge goal for him to achieve before spring practice begins. The coaching staff wanted to make sure that he got heavier this offseason, as he was only around 270 lbs. when he committed last July.<\/p>\n

Carlton has also been packing on weight, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end up as an interior player for Texas. He’s listed at defensive end right now, but he’s reportedly up to around 280 lbs., and outlifting upperclassmen in the weight room.<\/p>\n
