The Jim\u2019s at 4108 Broadway may now be a distant memory, but a Houston restaurant group is bringing back all-day dining to Alamo Heights. Adair Kitchen<\/a> will take over the former diner\u2019s kitchens beginning March 2.<\/p>\n

Though not a greasy spoon, Adair Kitchen is still approachable with breakfast options like chicken and waffles and huevos rancheros, and a sausage and sweet potato skillet. Lunch is lighter with sandwiches, grain bowls, fish tacos, and salads like the cheeky Not Jennifer Aniston\u2019s Salad, a take on the Friends\u2019 star\u2019s viral quinoa and chickpea dish.<\/p>\n

Dinner is a bit more decadent with mains like green chicken enchiladas, a Nashville-style fried chicken sandwich, garlic butter-basted branzino, and an eight-ounce sirloin festooned with olive tapenade. Adair Kitchen also offers something late-night Jim\u2019s customers might have appreciated \u2014 a full bar with cocktails like margaritas and Planters Punch.<\/p>\n

Nick Adair, president of Adair Concepts, was no stranger to the neighborhood before taking over the iconic spot.<\/p>\n

[M]y wife, Alice, grew up here and we have lots of family in the area,\u201d he says through a release. \u201cAlamo Heights in particular was a great landing spot for Adair Kitchen, as the neighborhood\u2019s focus on community, family, and friends mimics the neighborhoods that surround our Houston locations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company was careful to respect the history of the landmark building, built in 1971. The original structure and the signage have been left intact, while the Adair\u2019s creative team visited long-running area businesses to scout ideas. Austin design firm Edgerton Studios outfitted the space with a Mid-century Modern-inspired feel updated with natural materials and cheery booths.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur approach has always been rooted in community,\u201d says co-owner Katie Adair Barnhart in the release. \u201cOur concepts have really always centered on catering to the neighborhoods they serve. We put careful thought into what the neighborhoods need and ask for, be it culinary, atmosphere, and general usability of the space.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adair Kitchen\u2019s San Antonio opening is the hospitality group\u2019s second foray outside its Houston home base. In April 2025, the company opened a location of its Los Tios<\/a> Tex-Mex chain in Fredericksburg, near the boutique Trueheart Hotel owned by Nick and Alice Adair.
