For over 50 years, The Stewpot<\/a> has provided support for members of the community who are experiencing hunger and homelessness. Located in downtown Dallas, the organization offers a wide range of services, including a food pantry, medical clinics, social caseworkers, and programs for at-risk youth. The Stewpot is headed by Executive Director, Brenda Snitzer, a Plano resident with extensive experience in local nonprofit leadership.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Stewpot\u2019s 18th annual \u2018Soup\u2019s On\u2019 luncheon gathered nearly 700 attendees at the Thompson Dallas hotel on Monday, February 2. Presented by H-E-B\/Central Market<\/a>, the event\u2019s theme of \u201cLiving in Harmony\u201d included an exhibition of works created by artists from The Stewpot Art Program. In addition, a menu of gourmet soups were created by chefs from top local restaurants, including Plano favorites Whistle Britches<\/a> and Leela\u2019s Wine Bar<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u2018Soup\u2019s On\u2019 event reflects the heart of our work and the generous hearts of our donors and partners,\u201d says Snitzer. \u201cIt\u2019s more than a luncheon\u2014it\u2019s an expression of our community, reaching out to love our neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Broadway star Hailee Kaleem Wright<\/a> served as this year\u2019s featured speaker, surprising guests with a performance of Katy Perry\u2019s \u201cFirework.\u201d Wright also shared her own story of overcoming homelessness, and her recent experience touring The Stewpot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe campus is incredible,\u201d says Wright. \u201cOn my tour, I kept hearing them say \u2018neighbor\u2019 and \u2018our friends here\u2019 and \u2018our family here.\u2019 That was so heartwarming.\u201d<\/p>\n
