Superintendent Wayne Henderson said the sale can give the items a new purpose.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s really just what\u2019s left and to try and let people have an opportunity if they want to come in and get something at a decent price and something they will utilize down the road instead of just throwing it in the trash,\u201d Henderson said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Sands CISD opens old school for one-day sale of surplus furniture and equipment\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/CRLGUGMFTBBW5IH4DWPIU7O2ZM.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Sands CISD opens old school for one-day sale of surplus furniture and equipment(KCBD)One last look<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Henderson said the event is also an opportunity for past graduates to walk the halls one final time and purchase pieces of their history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis was just another opportunity for the community to come in and say their goodbyes to the building, so to speak, but also kind of reminisce about seeing some of these old desks,\u201d Henderson said. \u201cI guarantee some of them have been here since the \u201960s. I know some people I have seen say, \u2018I want that one because that was my second-grade classroom,\u2019 and I say okay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Henderson said items were pulled from throughout the building ahead of the sale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe got this stuff left over that was in nooks and crannies and maybe it was in a classroom that somebody didn\u2019t want in auction, so we pulled it back out,\u201d Henderson said. \u201cIt is one of those deals where you just gotta open it up and let everybody kind of come through.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sale Details<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1Ay8dP2CYi\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1Ay8dP2CYi\/\">The sale <\/a>runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the school in Ackerly, located approximately one hour south of Lubbock on U.S. 87.
