Wesley Hunt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>At the local level, Travis County will have two Democratic primaries for commissioners, Williamson County will have one Republican commissioner primary and Bastrop County will have one Republican and one Democratic county judge primary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When does in-person early voting end?<\/p>\n<p>Polls are typically open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but these hours may vary by location and day of the week. That could be a utility bill, bank statement, government check or voter registration certificate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Can I vote by mail?<\/p>\n<p>You may qualify to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/o\/GonnC\/https:\/\/www.votetexas.gov\/voting-by-mail\/eligibility-requirements.html\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">vote by mail<\/a> if you:<\/p>\n<p>Will be absent from your county of residence on Election Day and during early voting<br \/>\nAre sick or have a disability that prevents voting in person without assistance<br \/>\nAre 65 or older<br \/>\nAre confined in jail serving a misdemeanor sentence or confined without bail pending trial<br \/>\nAre expecting to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day<br \/>\nAre civilly committed under Chapter 841 of the Texas Health and Safety Code<\/p>\n<p>Early voter turnout so far<\/p>\n<p>In the first eight days of early voting, which began last week, roughly 10.2 percent of Travis County&#8217;s 920,114 registered voters had cast ballots \u2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/news\/politics\/elections\/article\/travis-county-primary-election-2026-early-voting-21940914.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">highest early turnout<\/a> within the same time period in a primary since 2008.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>It marks the second-highest early-voter turnout in Travis County for primary elections in the last two decades. The highest early-voter turnout in the last 20 years occurred in 2008, when 11.4 percent of registered Travis County voters cast ballots early in the first eight days of early voting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Notably, that&#8217;s a higher turnout than the same time periods in the 2020 and 2024 primaries, both of which were during presidential election cycles \u2014 when voter turnout is typically at its highest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Senate race plays a role in this, Joshua Blank, director of research at the Texas Politics Project, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/news\/politics\/elections\/article\/travis-county-primary-election-2026-early-voting-21940914.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told the American-Statesman<\/a>.
