The ultracompact desktop computers will be\u00a0produced at a new factory on Apple\u2019s Houston manufacturing site, the tech giant announced Tuesday<\/a>. This will be the first time the Mac mini will be manufactured in the United States.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s 20K SF Advanced Manufacturing Center, which is under construction and slated to open later this year, will invest in the advanced manufacturing workforce. Apple experts will teach participants the processes used to make Apple products, and the dedicated facility will provide hands-on training to students, supplier employees and American businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cApple is deeply committed to the future of American manufacturing, and we\u2019re proud to significantly expand our footprint in Houston with the production of Mac mini starting later this year,\u201d Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Apple says its Houston operations will create thousands of jobs, and the new investments will double the campus\u2019 footprint.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe began shipping advanced AI<\/a> servers from Houston ahead of schedule, and we\u2019re excited to accelerate that work even further,\u201d Cook said.<\/p>\n

Apple began shipping artificial intelligence servers built at its Houston factory<\/a>\u00a0in October, part of the company\u2019s $600B U.S. investment plan announced last year, as\u00a0President Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0pressured companies to bring manufacturing operations stateside.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Apple has spent more than $3B on Trump\u2019s second-term tariffs<\/a>, the BBC reported<\/a>. The president\u00a0specifically threatened tariffs against Apple<\/a>\u00a0if it did not start manufacturing iPhones in the U.S., but analysts say significant changes to the company\u2019s supply chain would take time.<\/p>\n

The Mac mini is a niche product, accounting for less than 5% of Mac sales, according to the\u00a0BBC.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
