{"id":181821,"date":"2026-02-26T21:03:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T21:03:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/181821\/"},"modified":"2026-02-26T21:03:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T21:03:12","slug":"texas-parks-and-wildlife-offering-funding-for-grassland-restoration-in-panhandle-west-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/181821\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Parks and Wildlife offering funding for grassland restoration in Panhandle, West Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) &#8211; The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is partnering with several agencies to accept applications for its Panhandle Grassland Restoration Incentive Program (PGRIP). <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">PGRIP helps provide financial assistance to landowners and ag producers who implement conservation practices to restore grassland habitats. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This comes as the West Texas area has lost significant grassland habitat due to increases in tree cover, conversion to cropland or pastureland, and urban and rural development. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A news release states this loss in grasslands threaten area wildlife species, including bobwhite quail and other birds, pronghorn and mule deer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Priority counties for the program include: Armstrong, Bailey, Carson, Castro, Cochran, Dallam, Deaf Smith, Donley, Gray, Hartley, Hemphill, Hutchinson, Lipscomb, Lynn, Moore, Ochiltree, Oldham, Potter, Randall, Roberts, Terry, Wheeler, and Yoakum. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">There are several other counties eligible for the program as well.
