Health and Human Services Secretary Robert\u00a0F. Kennedy Jr.<\/a> kicked off what he called a \u201cnational BBQ <\/a>tour\u201d Thursday with a stop in Austin.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst stop on my national BBQ <\/a>tour, I visited Terry Black\u2019s<\/a> to EAT REAL FOOD,\u201d Kennedy wrote in a post including photos of a piled-up barbecue spread at Terry Black\u2019s Barbecue.<\/p>\n

The visit corresponds Kennedy\u2019s long-running pitch that America\u2019s health problems start in the grocery aisle and that \u201creal food\u201d should replace what he and his allies describe as an ultra-processed, additive-heavy diet. Since taking the job in the Trump administration, Kennedy has elevated that idea into a broader \u201cMake America Healthy Again\u201d push that targets ultra-processed foods and additives as drivers of chronic disease.<\/p>\n

Federal health agencies have also leaned into the \u201creal food\u201d framing in recent public messaging.
