A high-speed police chase that started in Ellis County<\/a> ended in a crash in Fort Worth early Thursday with five suspects in custody, officials said.<\/p>\n A patrol officer with the Ellis County Sheriff\u2019s Office heard gunshots on a county road near Midlothian about 3:30 a.m. and saw a speeding car run a stop sign. The officer pursued the vehicle and was fired upon by one or more of the suspects, Fort Worth police said in a news release.<\/p>\n Fort Worth police officers joined in when the pursuit entered the city, and the suspects began shooting at them<\/a> as well, according to the release. The officers saw items being thrown out of the car and later recovered a gun, police said.<\/p>\n The driver of the suspects\u2019 vehicle lost control after officers deployed spike strips. The car crashed in the 6300 block of Camp Bowie Boulevard and rolled on its side<\/a>.<\/p>\n Four of the five occupants obeyed the officers\u2019 commands and got out of the car, the release states. Police said they determined it was safe to approach the vehicle after first deploying a drone, and they found the fifth suspect unresponsive inside.<\/p>\n Four suspects were taken to a local hospital for treatment after the crash and will remain in police custody, officials said. A fifth person was arrested but did not require transport to the hospital. The suspects\u2019 injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.<\/p>\n It was originally reported that no law enforcement officers were injured, but police said a Fort Worth officer was treated for a minor injury.<\/p>\n The suspects\u2019 names have not been released. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, officials said.<\/p>\n This is a developing story.
