1.\u00a0Texas faces future landfill overflow concerns as population grows<\/a><\/p>\n

On average, Texans throw away seven pounds of trash a day. That\u2019s two more pounds than the rest of the country.<\/p>\n

The drop-off site in Haslet helps take in that trash and gives people other options to recycle or reuse. People can bring everything from cardboard boxes to construction materials for new homes and more.\u00a0Keeping these materials out of landfills is critical, especially as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) estimates the Fort Worth Southeast Landfill has about a decade or less left before it\u2019s full.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a09 Texas cities rank among hardest-working in U.S.<\/a><\/p>\n

Several Texas cities have been identified as the hardest-working in the U.S., according to\u00a0data\u00a0from the finance firm WalletHub.<\/p>\n

The list was compiled by analyzing the 116 largest cities using key metrics like employment rate, average weekly work hours and the amount of people with more than one job. Irving was the highest-ranked Texas city in fifth place, followed by Dallas in seventh and Austin in 10th place.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Tatsuya Imai throws scoreless inning, struck by comebacker in Astros exhibition debut<\/a><\/p>\n

Japanese right-hander Tatsuya Imai threw a 10-pitch scoreless inning and was struck by a comebacker in his\u00a0spring training debut for the Houston Astros\u00a0on Thursday against the New York Mets.<\/p>\n

Imai allowed a leadoff single to Marcus Semien, whose sharp hit ricocheted off the pitcher’s lower right leg and went into foul territory. Imai was checked by an athletic trainer and stayed in the game. He finished the inning with a infield popout by Mike Tauchman and a double-play grounder by Bo Bichette.<\/p>\n

Oncor is working to expand infrastructure to meet growing power demand across Texas, but its latest proposal is drawing criticism in a small tourist town where residents fear it could harm the community\u2019s character and economy.<\/p>\n

Much of the concern centers on Oncor\u2019s proposed Dinosaur-Longshore Project, which would build 765-kilovolt transmission lines from Somervell County to Howard County as the utility works to keep pace with increasing electricity demand.
