CORPUS CHRISTI, TX\u2014U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright today signed an export authorization for a\u202f12% expansion\u202fin exports at Cheniere Energy\u2019s Corpus Christi liquefied natural gas (LNG) Terminal.\u202f\u202fToday\u2019s authorization allows\u00a0additional\u00a0exports of up to 0.47 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf\/d) of U.S. natural gas as LNG to non-Free Trade Agreement (non-FTA) countries from Trains 8 and 9 of the Corpus Christi\u202fStage 3 Project, known as the\u202fMidscale Trains 8 & 9 Project.\u202fWith today\u2019s order, Corpus Christi LNG is now authorized to export a total of 4.45 Bcf\/d, making it the second largest LNG export\u00a0project in the U.S.<\/p>\n
Secretary Wright announced the export expansion\u00a0approval\u00a0during a visit to the terminal.\u202fHe also highlighted the\u00a0United States\u2019 leadership in LNG exports and the recent\u202f10-year anniversary of the first cargo of U.S. LNG from the lower-48 states<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the last ten years, American innovation and President Trump\u2019s leadership transformed the United States into the world\u2019s largest exporter of LNG,\u201d said Secretary Wright. \u201cThis order helps further strengthen America\u2019s LNG export capacity, delivering peace abroad and prosperity for Americans at home.
