AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 Two of Texas’ Most Wanted criminals were captured in Houston and Waco in recent weeks by Texas DPS.<\/p>\n

Authorities arrested 40-year-old Carl James Hegert at an apartment complex in Houston on Wednesday, Feb. 18. Since October, Hegert had been wanted on a larceny warrant out of Waller County, as well as a warrant from San Jacinto County for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.<\/p>\n

Texas DPS says that Hegert had been convicted of numerous crimes since 2006, including theft of a firearm, sexual assault of a child, assault causing bodily injury to a family member, failure to register as a sex offender, and manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance. Hegert had been discharged from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in January 2025.<\/p>\n

DPS also arrested 39-year-old Brien Keith Coleman on Monday after a traffic stop in Waco in an operation between DPS Special Agents, members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the Texas Highway Patrol. He had been wanted since Dec. 29, 2025 for an arrest warrant out of McLennan County for indecency with a child by sexual contact.<\/p>\n

Coleman was arrested in September 2023 by McLennan County deputies for indecency with a child by sexual contact. He was arrested again on Dec. 10, 2025 for violating a protective order, and was subsequently bonded out of jail.<\/p>\n
