The cancellation applies only to 2026, and organizers say they plan to bring the parade back next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In a statement, LULAC leaders said protecting families \u2014 especially children \u2014 outweighed the importance of holding the annual celebration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThe safety of our children and their parents remains our highest priority,\u201d the organization said. \u201cWe are not willing to put any child, family member, volunteer, or participant at risk for a parade \u2014 no matter how meaningful or celebrated the tradition may be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Cinco de Mayo events traditionally draw large crowds and feature school groups, families, and community organizations.
