{"id":184089,"date":"2026-02-28T05:10:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T05:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/184089\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T05:10:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T05:10:15","slug":"el-paso-electric-to-issue-refund-to-customers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/184089\/","title":{"rendered":"El Paso Electric to issue refund to customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">EL PASO, Texas (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktsm.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 El Paso Electric will issue a $40 million refund to Texas customers through the fuel charge with an automatic bill credit that will appear over the March, April, and May billing cycles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The utility says the refund will be reflected as a line-item credit on eligible customers\u2019 bills, and credits will be applied automatically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Here\u2019s what customers can expect:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Automatic bill credits in March through May 2026 bills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Credit amounts vary by customer usage and rate classes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">For a typical residential customer, El Paso Electric estimates an average credit of about $16.14 in March and April, and about $31.44 in May (based on seasonal average usage).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThis refund is\u00a0a\u00a0result of selling generation to other utilities during those periods when EPE has excess generation and access to lower cost fuel not available in other markets.
