Preparation at Lake Houston for storms moving in across Houston area (March 21, 2022) (KPRC 2)<\/p>\n

HOUSTON \u2013 Houston Public Works will temporarily lower Lake Houston by 12-inches to prepare for a cold front that is expected to bring heavy storms and rain across Southeast Texas this weekend. <\/p>\n

On Saturday, the area of low pressure driving the cold front will be much closer to us, bringing more intense rain and storms.<\/p>\n

Crews will be lowering water levels at 12 p.m. on Friday. Officials said it takes 24 hours to lower Lake Houston by 12-inches. <\/p>\n

The lake level will be reduced to an elevation of 41.4 feet. <\/p>\n

Property owners are advised to secure property along the shoreline.<\/p>\n
