{"id":184669,"date":"2026-02-28T17:51:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T17:51:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/184669\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T17:51:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T17:51:09","slug":"dallas-driver-dies-in-callahan-county-crash-on-i-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/184669\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas driver dies in Callahan County crash on I-20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (<a href=\"http:\/\/BIGCOUNTRYHOMEPAGE.COM\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:KTAB\/KRBC;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">KTAB\/KRBC<\/a>) \u2013 A Dallas man was killed early Friday morning following a crash at a rest area along Interstate 20 in Callahan County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Vargas Samuel Angel, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision, which occurred around 2:33 a.m. at the eastbound rest stop near mile marker 297.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a vehicle was traveling east on I-20, exited into the roadside rest area, and struck the rear of a legally parked tractor-trailer. Police say the impact ejected the driver from the vehicle. The car then caught fire and burned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Two occupants inside the parked commercial truck were asleep at the time of the crash and were not injured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The crash remains under investigation, and no further information has been released.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
