The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Dallas hosted its largest external event of the year, an Interfaith Iftar Dinner.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere’s usually great food, great conversations, but also a time where we can actually connect and engage with guests to let them know about the true essence of what Ramadan is, which is introspection, self-reflection, and really being spiritual and uplifting our spirits for preparing for the rest of the year,\u201d said Khalid Kark, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Dallas.<\/p>\n
Local mayors, police chiefs, international diplomats, and interfaith leaders joined the local Muslim community to break the Ramadan fast and discuss the faith, civic responsibility, and community unity.<\/p>\n
\u201cI realize how much we’re alike. There’s really not that much difference. We all believe in a God,\u201d said Ken Hutchenrider, Richardson Mayor Pro Tem. \u201cHe has several different names, but I’m always so impressed with how we’re able to see how there’s so much more alike than we are different.\u201d<\/p>\n
Those who attended spoke on what Ramadan is all about all while exploring a Mosque and enjoying good food.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey really do have the same things as Christian religions. There’s a deep faithfulness and love of other people, loving God, loving your neighbor, and it is exactly replicated in the Muslim community\u201d said Lori Willard with St. Jude Catholic Church and Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church.<\/p>\n
