For a moment in time\u200a\u2014\u200athe Eagles 2024 season looked as if it was hanging by a thread. The additional of new Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore hadn\u2019t been especially impressive move<\/a> through four games\u200a\u2014\u200aand the Eagles were heading into the bye week at 2\u20132 having suffered<\/a> a 33\u201316 loss to the team that had ended another run in the NFC Playoffs nine months earlier<\/a>. The subsequent change that was then made\u200a\u2014\u200apropelled the Eagles to a 14\u20133 record and an eventual second<\/a> Lombardi Trophy.<\/p>\n

The Eagles began to run the ball<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We are now less than eight weeks away from the 2026 NFL Draft and while running back probably isn\u2019t a position<\/a> that is high on the Eagles list of needs going into 2026\u200a\u2014\u200aPhilly has never been shy about stockpiling talent at any position\u200a\u2014\u200aespecially<\/a> when game-changing potential is available for Howie Roseman and the Eagles Draft Room.<\/p>\n

On the surface\u200a\u2014\u200ait\u2019s hard to remember that Saquon Barkley did eclipse 1,000 yards this past season with the difficulty that he encountered game after game. But indeed he was a 1,200 yard rusher<\/a>. Behind him\u200a\u2014\u200anewly acquired Tank Bigsby<\/a> was a nice change of pace\u200a\u2014\u200abringing fresh legs to the Eagles offense while a myriad of injuries slowed<\/a> Clemson product Will Shipley after an impressive rookie season which included a 77-yard game<\/a> in the NFC Championship Game.<\/p>\n

But Saquon Barkley has just turned 29 and<\/a> Jalen Hurts is now 27. Protecting Hurts with a solid running game will be key to allowing<\/a> him to thrive next season. Even with the prospect of Bigsby returning<\/a> this season\u200a\u2014\u200athe Eagles must be deep at running back and in 2026\u200a\u2014\u200aonce again allow<\/a> the ground-game to setup the offense.<\/p>\n

The two top options on most NFL Draft Boards are<\/a> Notre Dame\u2019s Jeremiah Love and Jadarian Price. It\u2019s a one-two punch that got Notre Dame into the National Championship<\/a> Game in 2025. In that season\u200a\u2014\u200athe two combined for over 2,400 yards and<\/a> 36 touchdowns. Love<\/a> is the all-time touchdown<\/a> leader at Notre Dame.<\/p>\n

Who knows if either will be available with the 23rd pick<\/a>. At least one of them.<\/p>\n
