It\u2019s honestly stunning that Lubbock<\/a> landed this show. Not because we don\u2019t deserve it \u2014 the Hub City has always punched above its weight when it comes to rock \u2014 but because the where has become the real challenge.<\/p>\n

Mammoth WVH has officially reached that level where they\u2019re playing theaters, ballrooms, and thousand-seat venues across the country. By some insane stroke of luck (or rock \u2019n\u2019 roll fate), Wolfgang Van Halen is bringing one of the hottest bands in America to the incredibly intimate Jake\u2019s Backroom. It’s an off-date from their tour with Bush, and we’re pumped about it!<\/p>\n

Think about this for a second: seeing Wolfgang Van Halen at Jake\u2019s. You\u2019ve seen a lot of legends pass through there over the years, but it\u2019s extremely rare to catch a band at the exact moment they\u2019re blowing up. Mammoth is currently celebrating their fourth #1 single with \u201cThe Spell,\u201d and there has never been a better time to experience them live. This isn\u2019t just a tour stop \u2014 it\u2019s lightning-in-a-bottle timing.<\/p>\n

I originally hoped Mammoth would jump on a major amphitheater tour and swing through Lubbock that way. Instead, we\u2019re getting something far better: a blistering, up-close show as the band tears through a run of dates using mostly local support acts. Wolfgang giving young bands that chance is cool as hell, and it says a lot about the guy.<\/p>\n

The show hits April 26th at Jake\u2019s, and here\u2019s the truth: you\u2019ll want tickets immediately. Mammoth could sell 1,500 tickets without breaking a sweat, and Jake\u2019s holds roughly one-third of that. This is as close and personal as it gets \u2014 an in-your-face rock experience where you might genuinely catch a whiff of Wolfie\u2019s breath if you\u2019re near the barricade.<\/p>\n
