My own rock journey kicked off somewhere around 1974–1976. I fell head over heels for all the magical sounds coming off my local FM rock station. One song in particular grabbed me: “Light Up.” It shimmered, it soared, and—without sounding too much like a hippie—it genuinely radiated good vibes.

Not long after came Crystal Ball. It was another slice of mystery and magic that sounded like nothing else on the radio. Then in 1977, the real game-changer hit: The Grand Illusion. EVERY track on that album found its way onto the radio. It was the first Styx LP I ever added to my collection.

Experience The Magic Of Styx In Lubbock

Part of the charm was the mystery. The band’s artwork was abstract, almost otherworldly, leaving you to decide who these guys were and what they meant to you. It was magic then, and it’s magic now.
