<\/p>\n ARLINGTON, Texas \u2013\u00a0The UT Arlington Mavericks fell to Air Force, 7\u20131, on Monday afternoon at Clay Gould Ballpark.<\/p>\n Air Force opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run frame and added one in the second and two more in the third to build an early lead. UT Arlington settled in defensively through the middle innings and worked to chip away offensively.<\/p>\n The Mavericks broke through in the fifth as\u00a0Zach Evans<\/a>\u00a0led off the inning with a bunt single and advanced to second on a throwing error. After a sacrifice attempt,\u00a0Harold Laracuente<\/a>\u00a0lined an RBI single to right center to bring Evans home and put UTA on the board.<\/p>\n UTA finished with six hits on the afternoon, including a double from\u00a0Noah Fields<\/a>. Laracuente recorded a multi-hit performance and drove in the Mavericks’ lone run. \n\tJacob Havern<\/a>\u00a0made the start for UTA, working 1 inning.
\n\tCharlie Giese<\/a>\u00a0followed with 1.2 innings in relief.
\n\tThe Mavericks received a strong outing from\u00a0Kyle Winkler<\/a>, who delivered 3.1 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and keeping Air Force off the scoreboard through the middle frames.
\n\tMerek Sears<\/a>,\u00a0Hayes Melville<\/a>, and\u00a0Jacob Gabler<\/a>\u00a0combined to finish the contest. Gabler worked a scoreless ninth to close out the afternoon.
