{"id":189367,"date":"2026-03-04T02:49:06","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T02:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/189367\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T02:49:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T02:49:06","slug":"christus-spohn-shoreline-er-briefly-diverted-after-possible-hazmat-exposure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/189367\/","title":{"rendered":"CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline ER briefly diverted after possible hazmat exposure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CCFD officials said a patient brought to Christus Spohn Shoreline led to concerns about a possible hazardous material exposure, prompting temporary ER diversion.<\/p>\n<p>CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline\u2019s emergency department was temporarily placed on diversion Tuesday afternoon after a possible hazardous material exposure involving a patient brought in by Corpus Christi firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>According to Corpus Christi Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Tony Perez, a CCFD medic unit was dispatched to a residence around 2 p.m. for a medical call involving an adult patient. The patient was transported to Christus Spohn Shoreline.<\/p>\n<p>During the transfer of the patient inside the emergency department, hospital staff and medics noticed findings that indicated a possible hazardous material exposure, Perez said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said that out of an abundance of caution, the Hospital\u2019s emergency department was placed on temporary diversion while Corpus Christi firefighters conducted cleanup, decontamination and atmospheric monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>Corpus Christi Police Department officers assisted with traffic control.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Perez said the measures were taken to ensure the safety of hospital staff, patients and first responders.<\/p>\n<p>Fire crews remained at the hospital while the area was cleared and monitored. Additional details about the patient or the suspected substance were not immediately released.<\/p>\n<p>This is a developing story.
