Williams in District 25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"&quot;byline&quot;\">by Scott Nishimura, Fort Worth Report <br \/>March 4, 2026<\/p>\n<p>The granddaughter of Opal Lee won the Democratic nomination to challenge Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/williams.house.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roger Williams<\/a> for the District 25 seat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Five Tarrant County-area congressional races were up for grabs in the March 3 primary.<\/p>\n<p>Four incumbents are seeking reelection including Williams, who lives in the Weatherford area and is unopposed in the Republican primary for District 25.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The two candidates seeking the Democratic nomination are <a href=\"https:\/\/williammarks.com\/home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">William Marks<\/a>, a Navy veteran and community manager at Meta for the western U.S., and <a href=\"https:\/\/dionesimsforcongress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dione Sims<\/a>, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2026\/03\/01\/opal-lees-granddaughter-enters-under-the-radar-u-s-house-district-25-primary-race\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">worked with her grandmother <\/a>to organize the National Juneteenth Museum in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n<p>Sims defeated Marks with 60.5%, according to unofficial returns. The Associated Press called the race for Sims at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The district stretches west from Tarrant County to Callahan County. The bulk of what was formerly part of District 33 in Tarrant now falls under District 25 after Texas\u2019 redistricting efforts last summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The county did have seven representatives in the U.S. House whose districts included parts of Tarrant. After <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/09\/09\/tarrant-county-will-have-fewer-lawmakers-in-d-c-will-that-impact-its-influence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas\u2019 redistricting, two seats were drawn out of the county<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They were District 33, which was held by Fort Worth Democrat Marc Veasey who is not seeking reelection, and District 26, in which Republican Brandon Gill is seeking another term.<\/p>\n<p>If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in a primary race, the top two vote-getters will head to a May 26 runoff.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a look at the other congressional races in Tarrant County:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/redistricting.capitol.texas.gov\/docs\/20RXXXX_118th_Congressional_Tabloid.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. House District 6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of 11:30 p.m., U.S. Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/ellzey.house.gov\/about#:~:text=Congressman%20Jake%20Ellzey%20proudly%20serves,%2C%20Freestone%2C%20and%20Johnson%20counties.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jake Ellzey<\/a>, R-Waxachachie, took a 68.3% lead for the Republican nomination in his reelection bid for U.S. House District 6.<\/p>\n<p>The district covers much of Arlington and Mansfield as well as Ellis, Navarro, Anderson, Hill and Cherokee counties and parts of Tarrant, Dallas, Freestone and Johnson counties.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the Republican primary, <a href=\"https:\/\/ellzey.house.gov\/about#:~:text=Congressman%20Jake%20Ellzey%20proudly%20serves,%2C%20Freestone%2C%20and%20Johnson%20counties.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ellzey<\/a> faces <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votebuford4congress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James Buford<\/a>, a pastor and businessman from Ferris in Ellis County who has sought the seat twice previously, and <a href=\"https:\/\/stahlfortexas.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Stahl<\/a>, a law enforcement officer who lives in Blum in Hill County.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dannyfortexas.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Danny Minton,<\/a> a medical salesman who lives in Arlington, is the lone candidate seeking the Democratic nomination.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/redistricting.capitol.texas.gov\/docs\/20RXXXX_118th_Congressional_Tabloid.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. House District 12<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of 11:30 p.m., Fort Worth entrepreneur Angela \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.helifortexas.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Heli\u201d Rodriguez-Prilliman was leading <\/a>the Democratic race with nearly 60% of the vote, according to unofficial results.<\/p>\n<p>The district covers parts of Tarrant and Parker counties, including much of Fort Worth.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/craiggoldman.house.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Craig Goldman<\/a>, R-Fort Worth, has no opponent in the Republican primary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez-Prilliman\u2019s opponent in the Democratic primary is Kenneth Morgan-Aguilera, a nonprofit executive and Army veteran who lives in Crowley.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/redistricting.capitol.texas.gov\/docs\/20RXXXX_118th_Congressional_Tabloid.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. House District 24<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.burgeforcongress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Burge<\/a>, an IT security specialist who lives in North Richland Hills, was leading with 48.1% of the Democratic primary vote in the race for U.S. House District 24, according to unofficial results.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/electtj.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TJ Ware<\/a>, a businessman who lives in Keller, was in second with 26.3%. <a href=\"https:\/\/citizensforjon.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jon Buchwald<\/a>, a Dallas businessman, received 25.6%. <\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press has not called the race as 82% of votes have been counted. If no one receives more than 50% of the vote, the race will head to a runoff between the top-vote getters.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent U.S. Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/vanduyne.house.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beth Van Duyne<\/a>, R-Irving, has no opponent in the Republican primary.<\/p>\n<p>The district includes parts of Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Fort Worth, Grapevine, Haltom City, Hurst, Keller, North Richland Hills, Roanoke, Southlake, Trophy Club, Watauga and Westlake. DFW Airport is in the center of the district as it stretches out to parts of Dallas County.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. House District 30<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press called the Democratic nomination for U.S. House District 30, which includes parts of Tarrant County, for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/frederick.d.haynes\/?checkpoint_src=any\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Frederick Haynes<\/a>, a Dallas pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church. The race had results delayed as Dallas County extended voting hours.<\/p>\n<p>Haynes received 72.4% of the vote, according to unofficial results. AP reported 68% of votes had been counted.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas Democrat Jasmine Crockett, who attends Haynes&#8217; church, did not seek reelection for this seat as she ran for Senate. The district includes parts of Arlington and Grand Prairie as well as much of southern Dallas County.<\/p>\n<p>Haynes faced <a href=\"https:\/\/barbaraforcongress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barbara Mallory Caraway<\/a>, a former Texas legislator and former Dallas City Council member who garnered 23.1% of the vote, and <a href=\"https:\/\/rodney-labruce-for-congress-committee.ueniweb.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rodney LaBruce<\/a>, a pastor who received 4.4%. <\/p>\n<p>In the GOP primary, <a href=\"https:\/\/jacksonfortexas.com\/about\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Everett Jackson<\/a>, a small-business owner and community organizer was leading with 38%, according to unofficial results. AP reported 65% of GOP votes had been counted.<\/p>\n<p>Sholdon Daniels, a Dallas lawyer, had 24.3% of the vote.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gregorioforcongress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gregorio Heise<\/a>, a disabled veteran, received 19.4%; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walker4tx30.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nils Walker<\/a>, a Grand Prairie resident and volunteer, got 18.2%.
