{"id":190079,"date":"2026-03-04T13:06:23","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T13:06:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/190079\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T13:06:23","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T13:06:23","slug":"results-houston-votes-on-primary-election-day-newsradio-740-ktrh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/190079\/","title":{"rendered":"RESULTS: Houston Votes on Primary Election Day | NewsRadio 740 KTRH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The voting is done, for now.<\/p>\n<p>Texans went to the polls for the primaries on Tuesday, with several key races heading to a runoff to a runoff in May.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/decision-2026\/2026\/02\/25\/2026-primary-elections-results-for-harris-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HERE<\/a> are the results from the key Harris County races. <\/p>\n<p>Fort Bend County results are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/decision-2026\/2026\/02\/26\/2026-primary-elections-results-for-fort-bend-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HERE<\/a>. The biggest news there is that KPR George has lost the GOP Primary for County Judge.<\/p>\n<p>Montgomery County Primary results are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/decision-2026\/2026\/02\/26\/2026-primary-elections-results-for-montgomery-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Galveston County results can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/decision-2026\/2026\/02\/26\/2026-primary-elections-results-for-galveston-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can find statewide results <a href=\"https:\/\/www.270towin.com\/2026-election-results-live\/state\/texas\/primary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the GOP Senate primary, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Senator John Cornyn both advanced to a runoff election in May, as neither achieved the 50-percent threshold needed. Congressman Wesley Hunt was a distant third with14-percent of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>On the Democrat side, James Talarico still holds a 53-47 lead over Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, with over 70-percent of precincts reporting.<\/p>\n<p>In the race for Attorney General, that will also head to another runoff. State Senator Mayes Middleton and Congressman Chip Roy both advanced to a runoff election in May, beating out challengers Aaron Reitz and Joan Huffman.<\/p>\n<p>The Comptrollers race was a slight surprise, as Trump-endorsed candidate Don Huffines overwhelmingly defeated incumbent, and Governor Abbott endorsed Kelly Hancock to win the Republican nomination.<\/p>\n<p>There was also a bit of an upset in the Congressional side of the ballot. In the Republican primary for District 2 U.S. Representative, Texas State Representative Steve Toth defeated incumbent Congressman Dan Crenshaw by another large margin. Toth declared victory on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>In the Republican primary for the 9th District, Alex Mealer and Texas State Representative Briscoe Cain are also heading for a runoff election in May.<\/p>\n<p>Locally in Harris County, the race for Judge appears to be tightly contested in the Republican primary. Orlando Sanchez has jumped to a lead with 26-percent of the vote, Marty Lancton is at 22-percnet, while Aliza Dutt and Warren Howell both have 20-percent as of 11:55 pm Tuesday night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The voting is done, for now.
