EL PASO, Tx., October 24, 2025: In an update to a story<\/a> we have been covering for you, the attorney representing Max Grossman\u2019s former partner in a child custody case has been disqualified by the judge. On Wednesday, Grossman and his former partner attended a hearing regarding the former partner\u2019s lawyer.<\/p>\n

As we reported<\/a>, Grossman sued Angelica Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n and her law firm accusing the attorney of \u201cnegligent misrepresentation.\u201d As part of Grossman\u2019s lawsuit, Grossman\u2019s attorney asked that Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n withdraw from the case because of a conflict of interest.<\/p>\n

In the civil lawsuit that Grossman filed against Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n on October 1, Grossman alleges that the attorney breached her contact with Grossman by using the retainer fees Grossman paid for another case to represent his former partner. Grossman also alleges in his lawsuit that Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n breached her fiduciary duties to Grossman for representing his former partner in the child custody case. He also alleges negligent misrepresentation.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Grossman accuses Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n of \u201ccivil theft\u201d for keeping the retainer fees that Grossman paid without accounting how the money was used and for refusing to refund any residuals back to Grossman.<\/p>\n

During court testimony in Wednesday\u2019s hearing, we learned that Grossman has also filed a grievance against Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n with the Texas Bar. The testimony revealed that the grievance makes similar allegations against Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n. As of this morning, the Texas State Bar website shows that she has no public disciplinary records against her.<\/p>\n

However, Wednesday\u2019s court hearing was about whether Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n could continue to represent Grossman\u2019s former partner in the litigation. Among the concerns that Grossman has with Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n representing his former partner \u2013 besides believing that money Grossman paid the attorney for another case was now being used to fund litigation against him \u2013 is that Grossman and his former partner met with the attorney together numerous times where issues that are client attorney privileged were discussed with the attorney.<\/p>\n

Before the former partner took their child in September and filed<\/a> criminal misdemeanor family violence charges against him, Grossman was paying Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n to litigate another child custody case against the father of Grossman\u2019s former partner\u2019s first child. According to the court documents, Grossman believes that the retainers he paid Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n for the other case were now being used to fund the litigation against him.<\/p>\n

The judge\u2019s order disqualifies Angelica Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n from representing Grossman\u2019s former partner in the child custody case.<\/p>\n

We reached out to Angelica Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n for comment regarding Wednesday\u2019 court hearing. In an email response, Carreon-Beltr\u00e1n wrote that \u201cI have no comment.\u201d<\/p>\n

No word yet on who will be representing Grossman\u2019s former partner now that her attorney was disqualified on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
