Final voting results<\/a> in Dallas County are in for this year\u2019s primary elections. <\/p>\n

Earlier Wednesday morning, about a half dozen election workers were still tabulating more than 50,000 ballots in the county elections office, pizza boxes scattered on nearby tables. Some hadn\u2019t slept in more than 24 hours.<\/p>\n

A district court judge had extended voting to 9 p.m. due to widespread confusion throughout the day <\/a>over where people should vote, but the Texas Supreme Court later stayed that order.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Those ballots have been separated from the others and have not been counted, Dallas County elections spokesperson Nic Solorzano said.<\/p>\n

The confusion can be traced back to a decision from the county\u2019s Republican party in December, which required voters to cast ballots at their assigned neighborhood precinct for the first time in a decade. In years prior, voting centers were universal. <\/p>\n

Starting minutes after polls opened at 7 a.m., frustrated residents were turned away from voting locations and sent elsewhere. Hundreds searched for the correct sites online, enough that the county website crashed. <\/p>\n

Some voters persisted. Others gave up entirely.<\/p>\n

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who lost her bid for U.S. Senate, said at a news conference Tuesday that Republicans intentionally changed the voting process \u201cto disenfranchise and confuse voters.\u201d<\/p>\n
