Cutting as a sport, involves a horse, rider and herd of cattle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Since cows have a \u201cherd mentality,\u201d the horse and rider team needs to quietly separate one animal from the pack. Once the cow is selected and cut from the herd, riders are no longer allowed to use the reins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cTrained cutting horses are required to think on their own and anticipate and react to the cow\u2019s moves,\u201d the organization said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A cutting horse competition is judged on factors such as difficulty and how well the horse reacts.
