Fort Worth On A Budget<\/p>\n

\n Once a month, Fort Worth Star-Telegram service team reporter Ella Gonzales will scope out the best deals in Fort Worth for under $25. Check out all of her findings here.\n <\/p>\n

I\u2019ve driven by Daybreak Cafe and Grill<\/a> dozens of times, but it never caught my attention, as it;s tucked beside a swell of auto body shops along White Settlement Road.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t judge the 75-year-old brick building by its fa\u00e7ade. The food is good, and much better than the fast-food prices Daybreak sells it for.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s owner Mario Garcia\u2019s goal<\/a>\u2013 a place where someone can afford to feed their whole family.<\/p>\n

\"Daybreak Daybreak Cafe and Grill has been open for 30 years in this 75-year-old building at 2720 White Settlement Road. It is known for its extremely affordable yet good tasting food. Ella Gonzales egonzales@star-telegram.com <\/p>\n

Nowadays, a McDonald\u2019s Big Breakfast<\/a> (which includes scrambled eggs, a hash brown patty, sausage patty and a biscuit) goes for $7. At Daybreak, you can get two slices of toast, bacon, scrambled eggs, and a heaping mound of hash browns with hot coffee for the same price.<\/p>\n

Not only do you get more items for the price, but the food is freshly made from real ingredients, unlike fast food, which is normally frozen and then fried.<\/p>\n

Daybreak also sells breakfast burritos for no more than $4, breakfast tacos for no more than $1.25 and breakfast sandwiches for $3.39.<\/p>\n

In fact, I may have ordered one of the most expensive menu offerings, and still only spent $7.<\/p>\n

Get ready, because I\u2019m about to throw a lot of prices at ya \u2014 but there are too many good deals not to share.<\/p>\n

While Daybreak offers chicken fried steak and eggs<\/a> for $6.89 or a 6-ounce sirloin with eggs for almost $10 (this is the most expensive menu item), I went with my go-to, the All American Breakfast, for $5.89.<\/p>\n

This included two eggs your way (I got scrambled), hash browns, two slices of toast with jam, and a choice of bacon or sausage.<\/p>\n

I also ordered a hot coffee for $1.35.<\/p>\n

I could have fed at least two more mouths with our $25 budget.<\/p>\n

I went to Daybreak on a day when I had taco plans for later, but next time I plan to try one of their Tex-Mex breakfast offerings. You can get chilaquiles for $7, huevos rancheros for $5.59 or migas for $6.<\/p>\n

The breakfast tacos have to be the best deal, priced no more than $1.25. There\u2019s egg and cheese, chorizo, potato, bacon, sausage or beef.<\/p>\n

Omelettes are all priced at $5.89. Breakfast biscuits are offered for no more than $1.35. You get the point?<\/p>\n

It would be a disservice if I also didn\u2019t tell y\u2019all about their lunch and dinner offerings.<\/p>\n

You can get a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink for $5.40. Specials change daily but are always $7. Old-fashioned dinners come with two sides \u2014 dishes like a pork chop or a three-taco plate for $6.89.<\/p>\n

The menu is extensive. Anyone can find an item they like. The food is simple, comforting and well-made.<\/p>\n

Daybreak is located at 2720 White Settlement Road, across the street from Clay Pigeon and near the car dealerships.<\/p>\n

You can see Garcia working the counter there daily from 5 a.m. until 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

Customers can order for takeout (call 817-335-0805) or dine-in. I suggest dining in. The friendly team will bring your food and coffee right to your table.<\/p>\n
