{"id":192184,"date":"2026-03-05T19:58:53","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T19:58:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/192184\/"},"modified":"2026-03-05T19:58:53","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T19:58:53","slug":"3-6m-construction-project-to-begin-on-north-walnut-street-in-roanoke-mid-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/192184\/","title":{"rendered":"$3.6M construction project to begin on North Walnut Street in Roanoke mid-April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRoanoke City Council approved more than $3 million for road improvements on North Walnut Street at the Feb. 24 council <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roanoketexas.gov\/121\/Agendas-Minutes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">meeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The details <\/p>\n<p>Roanoke City Council awarded a bid to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcmahoncontracting.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">McMahon Contracting<\/a>, a construction company, for the reconstruction of North Walnut Street from Byron Nelson Boulevard to North Oak Street at an amount not to exceed $3.6 million, according to city <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roanoketexas.gov\/121\/Agendas-Minutes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The project will include new concrete street, curb and gutter drainage improvements, installing sidewalk and street lighting and storm drain improvements along a section of Lois Street, per city documents.<\/p>\n<p>Work will begin mid-April, said Sandra Pettigrew, Roanoke\u2019s public engagement manager.<\/p>\n<p>City officials are anticipating receiving a 50% <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/keller-roanoke-northeast-fort-worth\/transportation\/2026\/01\/14\/roanoke-officials-approve-57m-in-city-funding-for-3-road-projects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reimbursement<\/a> from Denton County on the total cost of the project.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the agenda<\/p>\n<p>Landscaping will be added to US 377 from Denton Street to north of SH 114 after Roanoke City Council approved an advanced funding agreement with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.txdot.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Texas Department of Transportation<\/a> for the project.<\/p>\n<p>The improvements consist of installing landscaping and irrigation, including the planting of trees, shrubs, and ground cover, per city documents.<\/p>\n<p>The project will cost $582,198, with funding coming from the federal and state government, according to city documents.
