A Fort Worth home caught fire after it was struck by lightning during a severe thunderstorm<\/a> Wednesday night, causing the roof to collapse, officials said.<\/p>\n The Fort Worth Fire Department received multiple calls shortly before<\/a> 9 p.m. from neighbors reporting a house on fire due to a lightning strike in the 4200 block of Leeds Drive, the fire department said in a social media post.<\/p>\n \u201cNeighbors immediately ran to the house, banging on the front door, to ensure everyone was outside safely,\u201d officials said.<\/p>\n Firefighters arrived and saw the fire spreading from the roof of a two-story corner home. The crew went inside and started fighting the fire, and additional lines were run to access the attic, officials said.<\/p>\n Firefighters fought the blaze for over an hour while protecting the homes on either side from exposure, the department said.<\/p>\n The chimney collapsed into the roof, but there were no injuries as everyone had been removed from the home, officials said.<\/p>\n The fire was under control at 10:35 p.m., the department said.<\/p>\n Related Stories from Fort Worth Star-Telegram<\/p>\n
