Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas has been asked by Republican leadership to withdraw from his race for reelection in Texas\u2019 23rd Congressional District. This comes after he acknowledged for the first time Wednesday having had an affair with an aide who later died after setting herself on fire.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Trump fires Homeland Security Secretary Noem after mounting criticism over her leadership<\/a><\/p>\n

President Donald Trump on Thursday fired his embattled Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, after mounting criticism over her leadership of the department, including the handling of the administration’s immigration crackdown and disaster response.<\/p>\n

Trump, who said he would nominate in her place Oklahoma Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin, made\u00a0the announcement on social media<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday, two days after Noem faced a grilling on Capitol Hill from GOP members as well as Democrats.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Texas judge declines to close Camp Mystic despite family’s request after last year’s floods<\/a><\/p>\n

A Texas judge on Wednesday ordered Camp Mystic to preserve damaged cabins but stopped short of blocking reopening plans after a family of one of the 25 girls and two counselors who died last summer sued to keep the camp closed.<\/p>\n
