H-E-B now owns dozens of vacant properties across North Texas..<\/p>\n

According to a previous Star-Telegram report, the Texas grocery giant has said it<\/a> regularly buys land to add to its real estate portfolio without having plans to build stores on it.<\/p>\n

Most recently, the San Antonio-based company bought five additional acres<\/a> next to an already purchased 17-acre site on the south side of East Bonds Ranch Road, next to U.S. 287. This now 22-acre site is only three miles north of the only H-E-B in Fort Worth that opened in 2024.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a recap of the North Texas land H-E-B has bought in the last 12 years.<\/p>\n

In 2014<\/a>, H-E-B acquired a 4.5-acre site at the southeast corner of Altamesa Boulevard and McCart Avenue. For the last 12 years, it has sat as an abandoned Sack \u2019N Save warehouse grocery store. Currently, there are no known plans for this site, but we theorize it may become a Joe V\u2019s Smart Shop because of the property\u2019s smaller size.<\/p>\n

A year later, the company purchased its first plot of Tarrant County land in Glade Parks at Cheek-Sparger Road and Rio Grande Boulevard in Euless. This will be an H-E-B store<\/a> set to open later this year.<\/p>\n

Also in 2015, H-E-B bought that 17-acre plot on Bonds Ranch Road. As mentioned earlier, the company bought additional land there, which makes this property now 22 acres. Plans are unknown, as this site is only three miles north of the Alliance H-E-B.<\/p>\n

By the end of 2016, the mega-grocer owned seven developable plots in Tarrant County.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the Star-Telegram reported that H-E-B bought 15-acres<\/a> along McPherson Boulevard and Summer Creek Drive in south Fort Worth \u201cfor their future needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

In January 2025<\/a>, H-E-B also bought land in Wise County at the southeast corner of Farm Road and U.S. 287.<\/p>\n

Besides the Euless store in Glade Parks set to open later this year, H-E-B announced its second Fort Worth location<\/a> that will be at the corner of FM 3325 and I-20 Service Road in the Walsh neighborhood. Construction has yet to begin.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in North Texas, the company also announced plans for its first store in Dallas<\/a>, which has not yet broken ground.<\/p>\n
